Program Helps Match People with Unique Abilities with Jobs

Spectrum News 13 recently featured OCA participant Brooklin Califano and her journey to meaningful employment at Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute. Through OCA’s programs, including her involvement in theater, Brooklin developed communication and workplace skills that prepared her to participate in the We Build program. Her 12-week paid internship through We Build ultimately led to a part-time position as a surgical supply technician. Brooklin’s story demonstrates how the right training, opportunities and community partnerships can help individuals with special needs build successful futures.
